Full Denture
A full denture is used when no teeth are left in one or both of the arches. A full denture is made of a specific type of plastic and will rest on top of your gum tissue and all of the chewing forces will be on your gum tissue.

How do I get my full denture?

It takes several appointments for you to get your full denture. The first appointment we will take impressions so we can have a mold of your mouth. We’ll then need more accurate impressions made with custom trays. We will also take some measurements of your face so we can customize your denture for you. After that we’ll make several “try-in” appointments to ensure proper fit, shape and color.

How long will it take for me to get used to my full denture?
At first you can notice some problems. It can tip when you chew, feel bulky, your tongue could feel crowded and you can have a gagging sensation. You can even notice increased salivary flow and difficulty when speaking. But don’t worry, after the first week you’ll get used to your denture and these problems will go away. You may experience some soreness or discomfort under the denture base since your gum tissues take all the pressure when you bite. We can alleviate that by adjustments, in some cases it takes several appointments to make your denture really comfortable for you.

How do I take care of my full denture?
You must keep your denture free from plaque and tartar; this prevents permanent staining and bad breath. Use a denture brush and one of the many commercial cleaning products to clean all the surfaces of your denture at least once a day. Brush all surfaces gently to avoid damaging the plastic.

Tough stains and tartar can be removed by soaking your dentures in white vinegar for several hours. You can also soak them in a diluted Clorox solution.

When your denture is not in your mouth it should be stored in water. Since they are made from plastic keep them away from heat.
Remember to brush your gums and tongue under the dentures, this will remove plaque and stimulates circulation in the mouth. A healthy mouth will come with proper denture care.

The final result is a beautiful and natural looking smile.
